Final Artist Statement #4

My project was originally intended to have a more whimsical and informative nature, casting the audience as fairies whose attitudes determined the path of the game. As I worked on it however, I found myself making more silly and goofy choices, and I decided that as “having fun” was a part of the prompt, I would just embrace the memes. Overall I felt it did address the “your attitude flavors your reality” vibe , with choices like bleach and poison leading to death and such, but I do wish the positive choices had longer storylines. It almost felt like I was rewarding the audience for their good approaches by ending the game, and a reward should be fun, not game over. I learned a lot from this project and I really look forward to creating more wix sites going forward, mainly for personal purposes but I also enjoyed the ability to mimic a video game it provides.

My process was to create a positive, negative, and crazy approach to every action, with the crazy actions getting more and more unhinged as you go. I found it funny that those seemed toi be people's favorite options, like eat or burn it. I wouldn't consider myself a naturally humorous person, and my taste in memes is usually in the more surrealist category, so it was really gratifying when people laughed during critique. I would like to someday make the original site plan happen. When I have enough time to draw all of my own characters, gifs and backgrounds I think I will be much more satisfied with the result.
