I intend to make a soundscape that alternates between the most comforting sounds to the most uncomfortable experience possible. I am anticipating my fellow students will help with some of the more pleasant sounds, and I really hope someone uploads cats purring, as my mental picture for this project relies on that and I have no cats to sample from myself. I hope to mimic said cat purrs using the uncomfortable noises in intervals, kind of referencing the healing frequency that cats purr at and ruining it. While I do want my soundscape to include half negative noises, I also want to make sure I don't make anything too sensory offensive, as I myself have sensitive ears and want to avoid causing others pain in pursuit of unpleasant noise.
To build tension I plan on doing a slow to fast transition of at first having the clips last longer and be quieter, then gradually overlapping and getting louder. To provide a kind of warning to my audience I want the first noise experienced to be whatever I decide is the worst sampled. Most of the sounds I provided are water themed, recorded on my walk by boulder creek, and the toilet and sink on campus. The only sound that doesn't fit into this water noise theme is my “campus” sound wherein I'm walking through campus on a busy day, I liked thinking of campus as a sort of flowing thing similar to the flow of water.
I am excited to learn how to sue soundscape, as I've always been interested in recording audiobooks in my free time.
